Support for young people

The intercultural community youth worker (ICI-Jeunesse) supports newly arrived young people aged 14 to 25 to facilitate their integration into their environment. His mandate is to:

  • Help and support young people individually in their settlement, integration and immigration processes
  • Provide attentive monitoring and ongoing listening
  • Facilitate intercultural exchange
  • Offer information sessions and organize group activities (cultural, recreational, sporting, educational, etc.)
  • Promote youth resources and encourage youth participation in activities
  • Ensure representation of the organization on a youth committee

Support for women

The Intercultural Community Intervener for Immigrant Women (ICI-Femmes) position aims to support women at risk or victims of domestic or family violence, sexual violence, or sexual exploitation. ICI-Femmes acts as a mediator and facilitator between immigrants with vulnerable factors and the specialized services they and their families need. ICI-Femmes has the mandate to:

  • Facilitate access to specialized services and shelters
  • Provide personalized support and the establishment of an autonomy plan
  • Promote and raise awareness among women about healthy and equal relationships
  • Provide support to appointments and access to interpreters
  • Serve as a mediator between women and specialist services.

Support for family

The Intercultural Community Family and Youth Protection (ICI-FPJ) position is responsible for supporting immigrant families facing family challenges.

The ICI-FPJ aims to inform and raise awareness among vulnerable immigrant families to help them understand the services available for families in difficulty and youth protection. The ICI-FPJ’s mandate is to:

  • Carry out personalized interventions with immigrant families experiencing family difficulties
  • Support and facilitate access to specialized resources for immigrant families and their children to ensure their integration into the host community
  • Support, guide and assist immigrant families in their interaction with public youth protection services
  • Act as an intercultural mediator by intervening in disputes between immigrant families and institutions (DPJ, CIUSS, CISSS, police services, etc.)
  • Raising awareness among families about the safety, protection, well-being and development of children (0 to 17 years)

Academic support

The mission of the intercultural school community worker (ICI scolaire) is to act as a bridge between immigrant families facing complex needs or vulnerability factors and the services available within the school system. Its mandate is to:

  • Supporting parents to support children in their integration into the new environment, their perseverance and their academic success
  • Support students and their families when they start school and throughout the year
  • Supporting the French language training of young adults
  • Facilitate communication and act as an intermediary between immigrant families and school stakeholders
